Mazda presents the 2018 Mazda CX-5 as a sporty compact crossover and it holds true to that description. It is offered in Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring trims. Front-wheel drive is standard with all-wheel available. The interior finish conveys a lot of class with its standard leather-wrapped steering wheel and well supported seating. Full leather is standard in the Grand Touring, along with a heated steering wheel and heads-up display. Other available features include power driver's seat with memory, power passenger seat, Bose audio, dual-zone climate control, a power moonroof, and a power liftgate.
The Mazda CX-5 also meets its sporty reputation with sharp precise steering and a well-tuned suspension. The engine is responsive and its mated 6-speed automatic does its job nicely. 2018 brought the addition of active cylinder displacement, allowing the Mazda CX-5 to run on half its cylinders when coasting or cruising. The Mazda CX-5 is well designed with a sharp exterior using a long hood line to mimic more expensive sport sedans. The all-wheel drive system uses sensors to determine the road conditions, even sensing if the windshield wipers are on. Though not designed for serious off-roading, the Mazda CX-5 will handle a wide range of road conditions.
The 2018 Mazda CX-5 is well equipped with safety equipment. Low speed automatic emergency braking is standard along with blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alerts. The Touring and Grand Touring offer standard full speed automatic emergency braking, automatic headlights, active lane control, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control.
