Russell & Smith MAZDA Community Involvement

Russell & Smith MAZDA

Without your continued support, we couldn't have become one of the biggest dealerships in the Houston area. For this reason, as well as our commitment to social duty, we always love to give something back to the community that's been so good to us. We proudly back several local organizations with our time and money, including the organizations below and many more. It's just one way we funnel our success back into our community.

Bo’s Place

Bo's Place, established in 1990, is a nonprofit organization based in Houston, Texas. It offers free support programs for children, ages 3 to 18, and their families who have experienced the passing of a child or an adult in their immediate family, as well as programs for grieving adults. Programs include grief support groups offered in English and Spanish, community outreach programs, education and training, and an information and referral line staffed by mental health professionals. The referral line supports individuals that have experienced a death as well as family, friends, co-workers or other concerned individuals who want guidance to support the bereaved. Bo's Place serves over 1,200 children and adults every year and families stay an average of 14 to 16 months.

Bo's Place is sponsored by donations. Approximately 40% of Bo's Place income comes from special events such as its Annual Hearts of Hope Luncheon, with the remainder sourced from foundations, corporations, faith-based organizations, individuals and other organizations. Bo's Place is not a United Way organization and does not receive government subsidies.

Nick Finnegan Counseling Center

In March 2008, St. Luke’s United Methodist Church’s leadership recognized the community need to address the importance of mental health and created the St. Luke’s Center for Counseling and Life Enrichment. Years earlier, church members Susan and Bill Finnegan experienced a traffic loss when an auto crash took the life of their eldest son, Nick, and his dear friend, Scotty Caven. With counseling and support, the Finnegans found strength to move on as a family and, in turn, desired to offer similar resources to others in need of care.

In their son’s honor, the Finnegans joined St. Luke’s UMC and established the St. Luke’s Center for Counseling and Life Entrichment, a free referral source for community mental health needs. In January 2012 the emphasis shifted to offer on-site counseling and the Nick Finnegan Counseling Center was formed. The progress since then has been extraordinary and the fast growth directly relates to Houston’s growing demand for reasonably priced therapy.

NFCC offers services at a significantly reduced base rate, through insurance options, and on a reduced fee sliding scale for those who otherwise could not afford treatment. NFCC’s counselors provide in-house counseling sessions to individuals, couples, children as young as 3 years old and families. In addition to serving clients on-site, NFCC also helps those who join support groups, community workshops and discussions led by NFCC, as well as those helped through our partnerships.

NFCC is honored to be a place that can offer high quality and affordable mental health services to anyone irrespective of differences such as age, finances or beliefs.
